Assessments

Whole-body vibration (WBV) assessments, printed with the RAMS.

Daily vibration exposure for each machine operator, under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.

Machines and driving time

Machines are picked from a list of 15 measured values, each with its source. Where a machine's own figure is known, it can be entered instead. Driving time is entered in hours and minutes.

Daily exposure, A(8), and the action and limit values

The A(8) is set against the exposure action value of 0.5 m/s² and the exposure limit value of 1.15 m/s², with the time each machine takes to reach each one. The duties at that level print with the result.

Each role prints on its own page at the back of the RAMS, with the workings shown.

A plant operator's day: A(8) 1.00 m/s², above the action value and below the limit value.

Working it out by hand

The same sums, free and without an account, are on the WBV calculator, and the method is in how to calculate whole-body vibration exposure.
