The RAMS

The RAMS is drafted from the confirmed plan: a risk assessment for each ticked hazard, and a method that follows the steps, with safety notes and hold points where the work must stop for a check. Lines written to meet a client requirement are linked to it, and the markup view shows the requirement and the page it came from.

The nearest A&E

The site postcode is matched against a checked list of 216 24-hour A&E departments across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the road route to the nearest is worked out with Google Maps. The RAMS prints the hospital, its postcode, the distance by road and the time to medical treatment, with a map of the route and a QR code that opens the directions on a phone.

A department with limited opening hours carries a warning. Where the nearest A&E is more than an hour away by road, the RAMS says to call 999 for any serious injury and to plan for air ambulance. A different hospital can be typed in. A line is left for the supervisor to sign that the route has been checked.
